Monumental English Rosewood Linen Press
made by Johnson and Appleyard, prominent
furniture makers in the mid 19th century.
Made in the year 1861 and purchased from
the great nephew of the man who made it.
I was told it came from the estate of Dame
Edith Sitwell, the well known English Poet
Lauret who was born the daughter of a
baronet and died in 1964.  It is a museum
quality piece.  This is a massive piece,
(9 feet 10 in. tall, 65 inches wide and
32 inches deep).  The interior is fitted with
4 slides, (sliding shelves).  The bottom is fitted
with 3 long drawers.  This piece offers a great
deal of storage space.  The finials alone
are 12 inches tall and 8 inches wide! It is truly
a piece you run across once in a lifetime.
